Sun Sky And Surface debut single reviews by Chad Thomas Carsten

Posted 14 Apr 2012 in Reviews

Luke Danelon (Left) and Steve Weatherbie (Right) of California Rock outfit “Dear Dangerous”, venture into Synth Pop/Industrial territory with their latest project, “Sun Sky and Surface”. It brings forth Political Science Fiction, that combines groovy danceable synth, in the vein of “Orgy”, meshed with a hint of “Chemlab” style vocals. Danelon is a first-class vocalist while Weatherbie continues to be a master of production! The first single “Primal People”, instantaneously sets the atmosphere for Industrial clubs. The hook will have you busting a move, so grab your partner by the waist and dance the night away with these lyrics: “We are simple primal people so don’t regret it, this is an age old tribal secret, so don’t forget it”....

Mars Zodiac Mixtape Review by Chad Thomas Carsten

Posted 08 Apr 2012 in Reviews

After a long awaited anticipated three year wait, Mars of Mad Insanity Records is back with his best effort yet, “Zodiac”! The mixtape is of course named after the infamous Zodiac killer. In between some of the tracks include samples of news coverage of past crimes. It had a limited 500 copies pressed, I was lucky to score one. Kick ass guest features that include, Twisted Insane, DJ Mark 7, X-Raided, Sir Playboy 7 of Doomsday Productions, Spice-1, Stevie Stone of Strange Music etc to name a few. It’s all about that West Coast Funk production. You can’t help but smile while bobbing your head. Some of the production just scream sunshine, it just makes you want to go...

Lo Key American Monster by Chad Thomas Carsten

Posted 08 Apr 2012 in Reviews

Lo Key American Monster Just a short 4 months after the release of “Shadowland”, Lo key is back once again with “American Monster”! It’s short on the E.P. side, but Lo Key keeps proving he is a beast on the mic and continues to be a force to be reckoned within the underground Hip-Hop scene. This aint Jay-Z, more like Redrum! It’s Pure Horrorcore from start to finish. “High School Massacre” deals with getting sick of being picked on, while the closer “You Were There” (Featuring Zero of Mission Infect & ShakeLous), confronts the paranormal. “I think it’s time to break in my new knife set” spits Lo Key on the first bar of title track “American Monster”, even...
